Getting connected Hybrid Coaxial Cable

Originally installed for Pay TV services, Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) cable broadband services (usually just called ‘Cable’) are provided in Australia by Optus and Telstra.

Optus’ services are predominantly delivered via the thick cables that hang below the electricity wires on power poles in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Ballarat; Telstra’s cable broadband services are provided via underground or overhead cables, depending on location. HFC services currently provide speeds up to 100 Mbps.

This type of service can only be used if the cable is already present in your street.
